Restaurants

Tatler Restaurant and Bar, 5 The Mall, Queenstown

tatlerAn historic venue seating 70 guests downstairs and 40 upstairs, Tatler is located in the heart of Queenstown. Balcony and outdoor tables enjoy lake and mountain views and the cosy interior includes many original decor features such as wood panelling and open fire.

Tatler's Spectator Room is an ideal venue for pre-dinner drinks when a group takes exclusive use of the whole restaurant and is also a great option for intimate dinner parties as it's self-contained with its own bar and bathroom and provides exclusive access to the balcony. 28 guests can be seated inside and a further 12 on the heated, covered balcony.

Tatler's menu features regional cuisine prepared with seasonal, locally-sourced produce. The restaurant welcomes groups for lunch or dinner whether they wish to dine in the main restaurant or take private use of all or part of Tatler.

The Spectator Room is ideal for day conferencing, seating 20 guests boardroom style or 30 theatre style.

Tatler is also well located for after-dinner fun as the back door opens on to Searle Lane and many venues for partying on into the early hours.

Prime Waterfront Restaurant and Bar, 2 Rees St, Queenstown

primeRight on the lakefront on Queenstown Bay, Prime is the perfect venue for events with wow factor including weddings, gala dinners and conferences.

Prime's floor-to-ceiling windows provide panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and surrounding mountains and inside the stylish decor includes a central open fireplace and modern art by local artisans.

Prime's floor space can be divided into private areas for groups of up to 50 and, opened up, can seat 180 banquet style, 120 for conferencing or 300 for stand-up functions.

Facilities include a data projector and screen, sound system, raised stage, 3-phase power and black out curtains.

The Ballarat Trading Co, 7 The Mall, Queenstown

ballaratLocated in The Mall, the Ballarat Trading Company is one of the most popular meeting places for Queenstowners and visitors alike. The gastropub menu specialises in traditional New Zealand dishes with a southern influence.

With antique style decor featuring historic artifacts, photographs and news print, the Ballarat is a cosy and welcoming venue ideal for groups of 25 to 140.

Outdoor tables at the Ballarat offer lake and mountain views and inside are several areas for group dining and private functions.

Winnies, Upstairs, 7 The Mall, Queenstown

winniesWinnies is located upstairs from the Ballarat Trading Company and is an iconic part of Queenstown dining history. Winnie's unique opening roof is famous for cooling down the dance floor and there are pool tables, booth seating and a balcony with views over Queenstown's Mall.

Casual and comfortable decor complements Winnies' gourmet pizza and pasta menu, with additional salad, vegetarian and a la carte options available too.

Winnies is a great spot for conferences, drinks parties or live music and caters for large and small groups with private areas and whole-venue options available on request.

Lake Transport

cruiseSpecialising in sight-seeing trips on Lake Wakatipu, the Million Dollar One and Million Dollar Two provide spacious and comfortable boat transfers and scenic cruises.

With an on-board barbecue, the Million Dollar Two is a great option for floating parties and with the assistance of a local fishing guide, groups can catch their own dinner.

The 90 minute sightseeing cruise departs at 11am and 2pm year-round and in summer there's also a 4pm cruise. Passengers are taken on an informative and scenic tour of Lake Wakatipu's coastline around Queenstown Golf Course, Kelvin Heights and the Frankton Arm with close up views of some of the region's notable wildlife and architecture. This tour retails at $25 pp and is commissionable to agents at 15%.

Each vessel has been refurbished to a high standard with indoor and outdoor seating available. There are restrooms and bar facilities on board.

A lake transfer is a novel alternative to arriving in Queenstown by road and the vessels can transfer passengers between the Hilton at Kawarau Falls and, the Frankton Marina and the downtown pier outside Prime Waterfront Restaurant and Bar, where guests can bring their freshly-caught fish if desired.

Charter pricing starts at $300 per hour (nett, GST-exclusive) for 30 to 60 passengers. A surcharge applicable if t'he trip encroaches upon scheduled sighseeing tours. A variety of on-board catering options is available, including canapes, antipasto platters and barbecue meals.

Cheesery

cheeseryGibbston Valley Cheese is a perfect place to stop when travelling by road between Cromwell and Queenstown. Platter lunches can be enjoyed amongst the vines of Gibbston Valley Wines and free tastings are available, along with a range of cheeses, deli items and gifts for sale at the cafe shop.

Tour operaters are invited to book their groups in for a presentation about the cheese making process, a question-and-answer session and tastings of a range of cheeses at the conclusion.

Picnic hampers and wine maps are available to take on a tour of the local wineries and hampers can be arranged for walkers on the nearby Gibbston Trail.

Queenstown's best-kept secret, Bar Up is a sophisticated hideaway upstairs in the midst of Queenstown's nightlife hub, Searle Lane. Bar Up's mixologists specialise in bespoke cocktails and there is also a wide selection of beers, spriits and wines.

Zephyr, Searle Lane, Queenstown

Queenstown's newest bar has just opened on Searle Lane, directly outside the Ballarat Trading Company.

Zephyr is kitted out with demolition materials sourced from its sister bars in Christchurch, includes a brand-new pool table and features rustic, retro decor featuring works from local emerging artists.

Exclusive functions are welcomed and Zephyr can accommmodate up to 60 guests for pre-dinner drinks and canapes or after-parties with a range of catering options available from neighbouring Ballarat and Winnies.

Zephyr is also a perfect venue for cocktail tuition, a popular team-building activity for conference groups.

Licenced until 4am, Zephyr is a great space for partying-on after official functions finish.
